COVID-19: Jasa Marga closes Jakarta-Cikampek Elevated II Toll Road amid homecoming ban
JAKARTA - PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk (JSMR) has temporarily closed the Jakarta-Cikampek Elevated II Toll Road as a follow-up to the government’s ban on homecoming to prevent further spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19).
As requested by the Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Police, the toll road has been closed since 00:00 on Friday (24/4). For the time being, the lower part of the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road remains in operation.
“Vehicles coming from either Cikunir or inner city toll roads will not be able to use the Elevated toll road and must use the lower road instead,” said Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Police Traffic Director Chief Commissioner Sambodo Purnomo Yogo in a press conference broadcast on the Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Police’s official YouTube channel, Wednesday (22/4).
Exemptions, said Mr Yogo, apply to logistical vehicles and those carrying basic needs. In addition, the Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Police has also expedited the start of Operation Ketupat in 2020, which commenced on Friday. (MS)
