JAKARTA - PT Astra International Tbk (ASII) today (23/7) handed over the seventh stage of assistance in the form of an aid package worth IDR30 billion to be distributed to families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is planned that the seventh phase of assistance from Astra and other companies will be used for the procurement of 35,000 tons of rice, oxygen concentrators, activation of vaccination centers and the purchase of medicines for COVID-19 patients.

The gradual distribution of aid, which was held with other companies under the auspices of the Indonesian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation of Indonesia, will involve volunteers in various parts of Indonesia with the support of the TNI-Polri.

With the delivery of the seventh phase of assistance, the total assistance from Astra for handling COVID-19 has reached IDR200 billion. Previously, the first phase of assistance last year to the sixth early this year was worth a total of IDR 170 billion.

The assistance includes vehicle units, intensive care units, isolation rooms for high care units, test kits, personal protective equipment, masks, food packages, and ventilators to prevent the spread of COVID-19. (LM)
