JAKARTA – The total deposits recorded in 106 conventional banks clocked up to IDR 8 quadrillion in January 2023, sliding 2.43% lower than IDR 8.2 quadrillion seen in December 2022.

Quoted from the Indonesia Deposit Insurance Company data earlier today (27/2), the saving tier of over IDR 5 billion dominated 53.2% of total savings. All tiers reported decreases, recording the furthest decline of -4.3% month-to-month (mtm) in savings of below IDR 100 million.

Furthermore, the total saving accounts were also seen shrinking 0.4% from December 2022. The deposits were mostly held under bank savings accounts, covering 97.9% of total saving accounts. The highest increase in the number of accounts was recorded for certificate of deposit accounts of 2.6%, whereas the most apparent decline was seen on deposit-on-call accounts of -8.1%. (LK/ZH)
