JAKARTA - PT Selamat Sempurna Tbk (SMSM), a spare part manufacturer for heavy equipment and four wheelers, is popularly known as the most generous issuer in terms of jumbo dividend distribution. This Indeks52's constituent is recorded distributing dividends of up to four times a year, beating three of its competitors for the past eight years.

In an exclusive interview with IDNFinancials last Friday (4/8), Ang Andri Pribadi, Chief Financials Officer (CFO) of Selamat Sempurna, confirmed that his company has been the most consistent in dividend distribution for shareholders. "The dividend has been distributed every quarter since 2015. The value has continuously increased for 18 years," he said.

According to Pribadi, the total dividend for SMSM's shareholders has reached approximately IDR 4.33 trillion since 2004. At that time, SMSM's total disbursed dividend was IDR 25.97 billion, while the net profit clocked up to IDR 57 billion.

This company actually has a policy to adjust the dividend allocation based on its net profit range. If the net profit goes up to IDR 10 billion, the dividend allocation is 35%; IDR 10-30 billion of net profit will deliver 40% of dividend, while net profit of over IDR 30 billion means dividend allocation of 45%.

By the end of August 2023, the company will have distributed two interim dividends in 2023 with a total value of IDR 287.93 billion. On May 24, an interim dividend was given with a value of IDR 143.96 billion or IDR 25 per share. The allocation was made referred to the net profit of IDR 221.57 billion, retained earnings of IDR 2.84 trillion, and total equity of IDR 3.54 trillion. Then, on August 23, this Indeks52 constituent will also channel out interim dividend of IDR 143.96 billion or IDR 25 per share. The dividend is allocated based on the net profit of IDR 429.33 billion, retained earnings of IDR 2.76 billion, and total equity of IDR 3.42 trillion.

Last year, this spare part manufacturer paid cash dividend of its 2022 net profit worth a total of IDR 518.04 billion or IDR 90 per share. The dividend consisted of interim dividend of IDR 374.04 billion or IDR 65 per share and dividend distribution based on Official Register of Shareholders of IDR 143.96 billion or IDR 25 per share.

For the record, three of SMSM's competitors, PT Astra Otoparts Tbk (AUTO), PT Garuda Metalindo Tbk (BOLT), and PT Dharma Polimetal Tbk (DRMA) only distribute dividend once a year.

AUTO paid dividend of IDR 424.13 billion or IDR 88 per share from its 2022 net profit on April 11, 2023. The reference for the dividend allocation is the net profit that reached IDR 1.32 trillion, retained earnings of IDR 8.13 trillion, and total equity of IDR 13.15 trillion.

BOLT distributed dividend of IDR 58.59 billion or IDR 25 per share from its 2022 net profit on June 21, 2023. The net profit attributable to the parent entity was IDR 79.48 billion, while the retained earnings reached IDR 277.07 billion, and total equity was worth IDR 848.74 billion.

Lastly, DRMA allocated IDR 98.54 billion of dividend or IDR 20.94 per share on May 10, 2023. Its net profit attributable to the parent company was IDR 394.16 billion, while the retained earnings reached IDR 620.90 billion, and total equity was worth IDR 1.40 trillion.
