JAKARTA - PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (GIAA) and PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Persero) has officially formed a partnership to expand the national cargo shipping network.
The cooperation between the two state-owned enterprises was marked by the signing of a cooperation agreement between Pelni and Garuda Indonesia as the holding company followed by the signing between its subsidiaries, PT Sarana Bandar Logistik and PT Aero Jasa Cargo.
Garuda Indonesia's Director of Cargo and Business Development Mohammad Iqbal said the synergy with the Pelni is an effort to enlarge the cargo market along with the development of e-commerce which has an impact on the increasing demand for goods delivery services.
"Garuda Indonesia together with Pelni synergise air and sea cargo services in support of efforts to accelerate the potential of the logistics market which also answers the need for increasing market demand," he said in a press release quoted by Bisnis.com, Wednesday (17/10).
Pelni's Director of Marine Freight and Freight Business Harry Boediarto said that the involvement of Garuda Indonesia will expand the shipping company's business in the field of logistics services.
"In this way, Pelni logistics services can provide goods and cargo shipping to reach more cities in Indonesia," Mr Boediarto said. (MS)
