PALEMBANG - PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk (WSKT) is optimistic that it can complete the Pematang Panggang-Kayu Agung or PPKA toll road and the Kayu Agung-Palembang-Betung or Kapal Betung in April 2019.
Head of WSKT's Division VI Gunadi Soekarjo said that the optimism is based on progress in the field that shows a positive number.
"Hopefully we can achieve the target given by President Joko Widodo, which can be completed and operational in April 2019. We are continuing to work," he said as quoted by Bisnis.com, Thursday (18/10).
Mr Soekarjo explained, the operational target in April 2019 applies to the main road, while the rest area is expected to be completed in June 2019.
The project progress for the 77km PPKA toll road has reached 83%, while for the 111 km Kapal Betung toll road the work has reached 65%.
According to Mr Soekarjo, of the two toll roads which are also part of the Trans Sumatra, the Kapal Betung segment has a more difficult challenge than the PPKA toll road.
"The Kapal Betung segment does take time [to develop] because the toll road has a long kilometer and crosses several large rivers," he said. (MS)
