JAKARTA - Engineers are considered to have an important role in the successful implementation of the industrial revolution 4.0 in Indonesia through the mastering the latest technology. This encourages the creation of innovation so that the national manufacturing sector is capable to compete in the global market.
"Engineers are creative and innovative people, and are used to solving problems. So, engineers must be able to find opportunities and give birth to innovations in today's digital era. The role of the government is to provide facilities and opportunities," said Minister of Industry Airlangga Hartanto at the XXI Congress and National Dialogue of the Indonesian Engineers Association (PII) in Padang, Thursday (6/12).
Airlangga hopes that the engineers will continue to make a significant contribution in building Indonesia especially in the development of industrialization. This step has been stated on the map of Making Indonesia 4.0, which has great aspirations to make Indonesia included in the ranks of the 10 strongest economies in the world by 2030.
For information, starting this year, the World Economic Forum in the report on the Global Competitiveness Index has included the 4.0 industrial readiness component. From that new aspect, Indonesia's competitiveness rank has increased from 47 in 2017 to 45 in 2018. (LM)
