JAKARTA - PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk (WSKT) signed a contract for the construction of an aquatic sports arena valued at Rp 401.29 billion, for the National Sports Week (PON) in Papua on April 2020.
Iwan Suprijatno, Director of the Building Management Directorate of the Ministry of Public Works (PUPR), said the contract was part of President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi's) mandate. Through Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 10 of 2017, Jokowi asked the Ministry of PUPR to build 4 sports arenas, namely Istora, Aquatic, Cricket and Hockey.
"Previously, the signing of the contract for the construction of the Istora Papua venue was signed in November 2018," Suprijatno said on Thursday (6/12).
Suprijatno added that his party had asked contractors to improve coordination with the security forces, after the shooting of workers incident at the Trans Papua project in Yall District, Nduga Regency, Papua, on Sunday (2/12) yesterday. (KR/LM)
