JAKARTA. PT Darma Henwa Tbk (DEWA) has started to explore the possibility of establishing a mineral mining business, following rather grim prediction for coal market for next year.
Faisal Firdaus, President Director of DEWA, said that the plan would be carried out together with a number of mineral mining contractors in Indonesia. One of them is PT Dairi Prima Mineral (DPM), a company affiliated with PT Bumi Resources Minerals Tbk (BMRS). In addition, Firdaus also mentioned the plan for a contract for gold mining in the South Sulawesi region.
"At the moment they are finalizing their work, including the construction of road surface and preparation of supporting facilities," said Firdaus this afternoon (19/12). "We are still discussing and waiting for them," he added.
Even so, DEWA is reluctant to say how big the projections are for its mineral mining business next year. Firdaus only said that there are currently 3 companies that are involved in negotiation with DEWA. After the contract has been agreed, he said that DEWA would immediately announce it.
"We believe that in the future, mineral (business) will develop, the prices will also support that," explained Firdaus. (KR/AR)
