PANGKAL PINANG - President Joko Widodo requested the development of the passenger terminal of Depati Amir Airport in Pangkal Pinang, Bangka Belitung Province, to be realized soon. This is to answer passenger growth at Depati Amir airport, which in 2017 had reached 2.98 million passengers.
On this occasion, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi said that the Depati Amir Airport passenger terminal will increase its capacity to 3 million passengers per year.
"At present, the airport with a capacity of 1.5 million passengers per year will be built to increase its capacity to 3 million passengers per year. This will only be at the groundbreaking next week. It is expected to be completed in 18 months," said the Minister of Transportation at the location of the Depati Amir Airport passenger terminal development project on Thursday (3/14) afternoon.
The Minister of Transportation himself estimates that the development of this passenger terminal will be completed by the end of 2020. He further said that the airport will continue to be developed to have a capacity of 5 million passengers. In addition, the airport runway will also be expanded from 2250 x 45 meters to 2650 x 45 meters. (LM)
