JAKARTA. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) interrogated Bambang Gatot Ariyono, Director General of Mineral and Coal at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), as a witness to bribery cases in coal mines.
According to data compiled by idnfinancials.com, the case was related to the bribes from suspect Samin Tan to Eni Maulani Saragih, former Deputy Chairperson of the Commission VII of Indonesia's House of Representatives. Febri Diansyah, Spokesperson of KPK, confirmed the news of the investigation. "The person concerned will be examined as a witness for the suspect SMT (Samin Tan)," said Diansyah, as quoted by Bisnis, on Monday (18/3).
The bribe provided by SMT aims to smooth the termination of the contract of a mining area in Central Kalimantan. Unfortunately, the KPK has not received a response from a number of witnesses from PT Asmin Koalindo Tuhup, a subsidiary of PT Borneo Lumbung Energi & Metal Tbk (BORN) involved in this case. (KR/AR)
