BRI targets credit card business to grow 40% this year

JAKARTA - PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia Tbk (BBRI) is optimistic that the credit card business will increase this year, and targets a credit card business growth of at least 40% in 2019.

BRI's Credit Card Division Executive Vice President Wibawa Prasetyawan said that the growth of BRI's credit card business was good. Until February 2019 credit card distribution increased by 35% with sales volume up 36% (year on year).

He said, credit card transactions increased due to the establishment of a payment ecosystem with the right business model. Besides that, it is also supported by leisure business segment by making e-commerce-based programs in this segment grow 95% year on year (yoy).

Wibawa stated that the potential for increased credit card transactions could be greater this year as long as it is carried out with disciplined execution of the potential of BRI's business ecosystem. The potential of the business ecosystem includes the leisure sector, namely online travel agency (OTA), airlines and hotels.

In addition, from the agricultural sector through village-owned enterprises (bumdes) and from the e-commerce sector. He targets BRI's credit card business to grow at least 40% this year. "At least 40%," said Wibawa. (AM/LM)
