JAKARTA. The Indonesian Palm Oil Association (GAPKI) believes that the European Union needs to provide investment guarantees for producers of crude palm oil (Crude Palm Oil (CPO) from Indonesia, since Indonesian government has provided investment guarantees for European companies.
Joko Supriyono, Chairperson of GAPKI, assessed that EU discrimination against CPO and its derivative products from Indonesia could potentially threaten the Indonesian export market to various countries. "Because Europe has always been a reference benchmark in every policy of various countries," Supriyono said on Monday (15/4) today when met by idnfinancials.com.
Supriyono explained that the export portion of CPO and its derivative products from Indonesia was not so large so far. "4.5 to 5 million tonnes in Europe. That may be big, it may be small, "explained Supriyono.
Therefore, Supriyono said that his party was cooperating with the Indonesian government to fight the European Union's regulation of Renewable Energy Development (RED) II. Moreover, so far the Indonesian government has provided investment guarantees for European companies. "So how about Indonesian companies that invest in Europe?" (KR/AR)
