Nusa Konstruksi faces Rp 1 billion fine for hospital project corruption

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Prosecutor indicted PT Nusa Construction Enjiniring Tbk (DGIK) with a criminal fine of Rp 1 billion in a corruption case involving the development Specialised Hospital for Infections and Tourism of the University of Udayana FY 2009-2010.

"[We are hereby] stating that PT Nusa Konstruksi Engineering Tbk, formerly PT Duta Graha Indah (DGI) Tbk, has been proven legally and convincingly guilty of committing corruption as in the first charge violating Article 2 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 18 of Law No. 31 of 1999 concerning eradication of corruption as amended by Act No. 20 of 2001," said KPK Prosecutor Lie Setiawan at the corruption Court, as quoted by Kontan.co.id, Thursday (22/11).

In addition to criminal penalties, the KPK Prosecutor also indicted for the criminal additional pay compensation amounting to Rp 188.7 billion. DGIK has been ordered to pay fines and damages not later than one month after the court decision is legally binding.

During the trial, DGIK was represented by Director Djoko Eko S. The prosecutor said the actions of the board DGIK were proven for the benefit of the company. (MS)
