JAKARTA. PT Nusa Konstruksi Enjiniring Tbk (DGIK) said that the collapse of Gubeng road in Surabaya was caused by several errors in the work of pile drill and solder pile that had been worked on by the previous contractor.

Djoko Eko Suprastowo, Director of DGIK, said when his company continued the work of solder pile, the land on the side of the road collapsed. As a result, around 100 meters of the surface of Gubeng Road sank. "(We) Only continue the work carried out by the previous contractor," said Suprastowo in his official statement as quoted by Kontan yesterday (20/12).

DGIK got the Gubeng Mixed stage 1 contract from PT Saputra Karya in December last year. The work includes basement excavation, ground anchor work, and 4-storey basement structure. Suprastowo explained that the construction of this stage was in accordance with the direction of PT Ketira Engineering Consultants, and was supervised directly by PT Saputra Karya as the contractor.

Suprastowo added that the construction of ground anchor at this stage involved PT Freyssinet Indonesia as a subcontractor. Furthermore, Suprastowo said, DGIK will wait for the results of an investigation from the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) and a number of related agencies. (KR/AR)
