Kadin urges government to provide space for private sector to grow

01 April 2019 07:48

JAKARTA. The Indonesian government is considered as not providing enough space for the private sector in infrastructure development, despite the need of the private sector's involvement so that domestic infrastructure development can grow faster.

Deputy Chair of the Standing Committee for Construction Infrastructure Human Resources at the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) Dandung Sri Harninto said the growth of the private sector could boost economic growth.

"There are a lot more private companies and they are more spread, in comparison to state-owned enterprises which are very few," Mr Harninto told Kontan.co.id, Sunday (31/3).

Mr Harninto added that private companies are used to working on infrastructure projects as subcontractors and that their abilities and technical and financial capacities are beyond doubt.

"We need the commitment and strong political will in order for national entrepreneurs to grow," said Mr Harninto. (AM/MS)
