Amazon Web Services to launch new data centre in Jakarta

05 April 2019 16:19

JAKARTA - Amazon Web Services (AWS) will launch a new data centre in Jakarta by late 2021 or early 2022. Jakarta will become AWS’s ninth region in Asia-Pacific after Beijing, Mumbai, Ningxia, Seoul, Singapore, Sydney, Tokyo, and Hong Kong.

“Cloud has the power to transform businesses, educational institutions, and government agencies across Indonesia, and with AWS’s other infrastructure regions in Asia-Pacific we hope we can help accelerate this transformation,” said AWS VP of Global Infrastructure and Customer Support Peter DeSantis as quoted by DailySocial, Thursday (4/4).

According to Mr DeSantis, AWS Region in Indonesia will support the country’s growing startup ecosystem, major companies, and government agencies. It is also expected to drive more jobs in the fields of business and technology, boost the local economy, and enable organisations to reduce costs, improve agility, and increase flexibility.

“We are pleased that AWS is part of this journey,” Mr DeSantis added. (MS)
