JAKARTA - Australian food and beverages company Coca-Cola Amatil has announced the launch of its corporate venture capital (CVC) programme Amatil X in Indonesia.

According to the company’s official statement, the launch aims to capitalise Jakarta’s reputation as “the next startup capital in Southeast Asia”. “This initiative will also help us to identify and work with startup partners who are fit for our business in Indonesia,” said Coca-Cola Amatil Indonesia President Director Kadir Gunduz as quoted by DealStreet Asia, Friday (12/4).

Amatil X seeks to invest in startups in the aspects of on on-demand delivery, distribution optimisation, in-store analytics, and environmentally friendly packaging. The CVC initiative will commence operations in Indonesia this month and has inaugurated a partnership with accelerator programme Digitaraya, which is backed by Google Developers Launchpad.

Coca-Cola Amatil has also launched accelerator programme Amatil X Academy in Indonesia in collaboration with Australian venture builder BlueChilli. “Through the Amatil X Academy, we will identify our intrapreneurs and give them the opportunity to develop their ideas through a structured internal accelerator programme,” said Coca-Cola Amatil Group Managing Director Alison Watkins.
