Pertamina to purchase Airbus A400 aircraft for cargo business

JAKARTA - PT Pertamina (Persero) is planning to purchase Airbus A400 aircraft to operate its cargo business through subsidiary PT Pelita Air Service (PAS).

Deputy for Financial, Survey, and Consulting Services at the Ministry of State-owned Enterprises (SOEs) Gatot Trihargo said that in the planned aviation holding company PAS will focus on charter flights and cargo, while Pertamina will still be tasked to transport fuel.

According to Mr Trihargo, Pertamina still faces difficulties in transporting fuel to remote areas. The company plans to conduct large-scale deliveries using cargo aircraft.

“Going forward, Pertamina and a consortium will purchase Airbus A400 aircraft,” said Mr Trihargo as quoted by Bisnis.com, Monday (22/4).

Mr Trihargo said the plan would be executed in either this year or next year. However, he was still unable to reveal the number of aircraft that the company is planning to purchase. (MS)
