Investment Alert Task Force finds more than 1,000 illegal fintech

JAKARTA. The OJK Investment Alert Task Force has found nearly 1,000 illegal fintech in peer to peer lending business. The most recent finding is 144 entities that are not registered or do not have business licenses from OJK.

"There are still many illegal lending fintech exist. We ask people to remain vigilant and careful before choosing a lending fintech company. Use 106 lending fintech companies that have been registered with OJK, as many as 106 companies, "said Chairman of the Investment Alert Task Force, Tongam L. Tobing recently.

The number of unlicensed peer-to-peer lending found by the Investment Alert Task Force in 2018 was 404 entities. Whereas in 2019, there were 543 entities. So that in total there are currently 947 illegal entities that have been handled.

In addition, on 24 April 2019, the Investment Alert Task Force also stopped 73 business activities that were suspected of conducting business activities without license from the authorities and potentially harmed the community.

The type of business activity that was stopped by the Investment Alert Task Force was 64 forex trading, five money investment, two Multi-Level Marketing, one plantation investment, and one cryptocurrency investment.

Thus, the total business activities that are alleged to be illegal investments and terminated by the Investment Alert Task Force during 2019 were 120 entities. (AM/AR)
