Lion Air to operate Airbus 330-900 NEO

FRANCE - Lion Air announced the latest update on the company's plan to bring in a modern generation of wide body Airbus 330-900 NEO categories.

For information, currently the aircraft to be operated by Lion Air enters the painting and other processes at the Airbus manufacturer. Last year, Lion Air ordered ten (10) Airbus 330-900NEO units and had the option of obtaining four similar aircraft.

All aircraft ordered by Lion Air are larger capacity fleets and will complement the strength of three wide body Lion Air Airbus 330-300. The ten planes are planned for gradual deliveries to Lion Air Group in 2019 and 2020. This year, Lion Air will receive two aircrafts.

Lion Air will strengthen the development of the flight business with the concept of low cost carrier (LCC), including adding long haul services. The A330-900NEO is considered right to be a supporting part of the LCC business model and reflects the seriousness in expanding the network efficiently with the layout of double aisle seats up to 440 passenger seats.

Lion Air is optimistic that it can serve a variety of travel market sectors that requires travel time of more than 15 hours. The A330-900NEO operation in the future will provide added value to travelers, including non-stop worship flights from Makassar to Medina and Jeddah, Balikpapan to Jeddah, Surabaya to Madinah, Solo to Jeddah. In addition, Lion Air is also preparing to expand the tourism market to East Asia and South Asia to several cities in India. (LM)
