Kedai Sayur raises US$ 1.3 million seed funding

JAKARTA - Agritech startup Kedai Sayur has raised US$ 1.3 million in a seed funding round led by East Ventures. The startup said it would use the fresh funds to acquire more vegetable hawkers as its partners.

Kedai Sayur, which aims to break the complex process associated with supply chain of fresh produces in Indonesia, claims to partner over 2,000 vegetable hawkers in the Greater Jakarta area and the number continues to grow 60% every month. The startup also provides financing programmes for partners with limited capital to purchase unique delivery vehicles that can help them reach their customers more easily.

“Kedai Sayur fits into two of East Ventures hypothesis. The first one, technology inclusion to upgrade the underserved merchant accessing technology and second, improvement of Indonesia supply chain,” said East Ventures Managing Partner Willson Cuaca as quoted by DealStreet Asia, Monday (27/5).

“There is local wisdom that helps traditional on-demand vegetable hawkers to exist for so long and we want to preserve that culture with a touch of technology.” (MS)
