JAKARTA - PT Intikeramik Alamasri Industri Tbk (IKAI) plans to expand the hotel business by acquiring 3-4 hotels this year. The company estimates the investment required is around Rp 500 billion.

Teuku Johas Raffli, President Director of IKAI, said the company targets to acquire 3 to 4 hotels with an investment of around Rp 500 billion. The company's focus is to enlarge the hotel business in the 3-star and 4-star segments.

Johas Raffli believes that the hotel business can have a positive impact on the company's finances. Because, the hotel business has a different cycle with the ceramic business as IKAI's main business.

"The growth of hotel room occupancy rates is very high, especially in West Java, North Sumatra and Bali. Indonesia will also be a destination for MICE, both international and domestic. This is a niche that we’re aiming," Johas said as quoted from Bisnis.

For information, last year the company also acquired 3 property companies in the hospitality sector located in Ubud and Medan. (LM)
