Lion Air requests postponement of airport services payment to AP I

10 June 2019 11:30

JAKARTA - PT Lion Mentari Airlines has filed a request to postpone airport services payment in the first quarter of 2019 to PT Angkasa Pura I (Persero) or AP I. The postponement is for January to March this year.

According to Lion Air’s management, the request is caused by challenges faced by the aviation industry since last year due to low selling prices and cost increases.

“In relation to that, Lion Air has held a meeting and presented a letter [to AP I]. This is due to challenges in the aviation industry,” Lion Air Corporate Communications Danang Mandala Prihantoro told Kontan.co.id, Tuesday (4/6).

If the request is approved, Lion Air will postpone payment of bills from January to March 31, 2019 for the usage of facilities such as space and land leases, parking fees, landing and jet bridge fees, check-in counters, and baggage handling systems in airports operated by AP I.

Regarding Lion Air’s request, AP I Corporate Communications Senior Manager Awaluddin said AP I would still conduct a cross-check. So far, he has declined to comment further on the matter. (MS)
