JAKARTA - Lion Air is preparing to cut ticket prices by up to 50% as a follow up to a coordination meeting at the Coordinating Ministry of Economic Affairs on Thursday (20/6). The new fares will be effective starting this week.
According to Lion Air Corporate Communications Strategic Danang Mandala Prihantoro, the airline had offered 50% discounts to celebrate its 19th anniversary prior to the meeting at the ministry. In relation to the government’s decision, Lion Air will continue reducing fares by 50%.
Mr Prihantoro explained that the fare reduction will vary and is not flat. However, he was still unable to explain the price range. “I cannot explain the range yet, but [the reduction] will be up to 50%,” Mr Prihantoro told detikFinance, Friday (21/6).
Currently, he added, Lion Air is making several adjustments to airfares and ready to adjust fares in accordance with the government’s policy.
“Regarding the government’s decision, Lion Air is ready to follow the regulator’s decision, and we’re currently preparing everything,” Mr Prihantoro concluded. (MS)
