JAKARTA - State-owned mobile payment LinkAja has been officially launched at a launch event on Sunday (30/6). The launch was inaugurated by Vice President Jusuf Kalla.

LinkAja is a fintech-based payment app which is a product of synergies between state-owned enterprises (SOEs) PT Telkomsel, the State-owned Banks Association (Himbara), PT Pertamina (Persero), PT Asuransi Jiwasraya (Persero), and PT Danareksa (Persero). LinkAja is managed by PT Fintek Karya Nusantara (Finarya), whose shares are owned by the aforementioned SOEs.

In an official statement, the Ministry of State-owned Enterprises explained that LinkAja aims to provide access to financial services to the society in Indonesia in order to drive financial inclusion through the National Non-Cash Movement (GNNT). Until 2018, 76% of transactions in Indonesia was still dominated by cash, and thus an introduction to non-cash transactions to improve financial inclusion is needed.

“Thus, we are trying to adjust our strategies to the public’s needs and preferences so that they will shift to using electronic payment services in everyday transactions,” said Finarya CEO Danu Wicaksana in the official statement, Wednesday (3/7). (MS)
