Waskita continues to expand overseas

JAKARTA - PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk (WSKT) continues to boost business expansion abroad. In addition to infrastructure projects and hotel development, the state-owned company with the WSKT issuer code also targets the international construction market.

PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk's Director of Finance and Strategy, Haris Gunawan, said that his party had offered infrastructure projects in Manila, and hotel development projects in Makkah. Even though it is uncertain about the time, Haris still targets the two projects to be implemented this year.

To expand abroad, the company will take funds from capital expenditure or capital expenditure (capex) this year which are budgeted at Rp 29 trillion.

"Waskita's expansion abroad is a concrete manifestation that national companies have the ability to work on various global scale projects," Haris said in Jakarta, Thursday (4/7).

Soon, PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk, incorporated in the Indonesia Railway Development Consortium (IRDC), together with PT Kereta Api (Persero), PT LEN Industri (Persero), PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), will work with Phonsavanh group that has received support from the Government of Laos, to develop a railway line from Thakek in Laos to Vung Ang Port in Vietnam.

As for construction projects, Waskita Karya has collaborated with Hyundai Engineering & construction Co. (HDEC), related to improving its technical and commercial capabilities as well as promoting business opportunities in the international construction market, especially in Indonesia. (LM)
