OJK: As of May 2019, lending fintech has disbursed Rp 41.04 trillion worth of credit

JAKARTA. Head of the Board of Commissioners of OJK, Wimboh Santoso, said that as of May 2019, fintech companies has disbursed Rp. 41.04 trillion worth of credit, 81.11% more compared to the record from the same period last year or year to date (ytd) in of Rp 22.66 trillion.

"The total number of P2P lending fintech as of 25 June 2019 is as many as 113 entities. The amount of outstanding loan reaches Rp. 8.3 trillion as of May 2019, grew by 64.93% YtD, "said Wimboh at the Working Meeting with the Commission XI of the House of Representatives on Thursday (27/6).

According to Wimboh, the number of borrowers as of May 2019 was recorded at 8.7 million borrowers. This number grew by 100.72% from the total number of borrowers in 2018 of 4.35 million. Meanwhile, there are 456,300 lenders, grew by 119.9% ​​YtD from 207,500 lenders recorded in 2018.

In addition, Wimboh stated that the growth of the fintech business was accompanied by supervision by the OJK. Wimboh said OJK wanted lending fintech to conduct business transparently. To achieve this, the OJK collaborates with the Indonesian Joint Funding Fintech Association (AFPBI). (AM/AR)
