JAKARTA. PT Pertamina Power Indonesia (PPI) together with PT Perkebunan Nusantara (Persero) or PTPN III have carried out the test of 2 units of Biogas Power Plant (PLTBg) engines, before using them in the Sei Mangkei PLTBg, North Sumatra.

Ginanjar, Managing Director of PPI, said that his party was targeting for the engines to be on site in September. He added that the 2.4 MW plant will use Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME). The PLTBg is expected to start operating at the end of this year.

"This cooperation is also expected to encourage and increase the leverage of project funding schemes from national financial institutions and not depend on foreign funding," Ginanjar explained.

Ginanjar added that PPI and PTPN also planned to build a solar power plant (PLTS) in Sei Mangkei. "To increase the mix of new and renewable energy plants," Ginanjar said. (KR/AR)
