JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry is intensively creating startups, including the handicraft and batik sectors. Because, so far small and medium industries (IKM) in the handicraft and batik sectors have contributed significantly to the national economy.

"In order to achieve this goal, we held Innovating Jogja 2019. It is the third time after successful event in 2016 and 2018," said Head of the Center for Crafts and Batik (BBKB) Titik Purwati Widowati in Yogyakarta, Monday (15 / 7).

After the selection process for 42 innovation proposals that came in, Innovating Jogja 2019 arrived at the bootcamp stage for 30 participants (incubatee) with the best craft and batik innovations. At this stage, participants will take part in a three-day training session, July 15-17 2019 in Yogyakarta, in the context of a workshop on sharpening business ideas and preparing business plans for participants. This bootcamp stage is guided by the BHMTC team.

The next round after the bootcamp stage is the business plan selection phase to be held at BBKB Yogyakarta on July 18-19 2019. "Two innovation tenants will be selected and two tenants for the technology of electric batik stoves to participate in incubation activities, where BBKB is a business incubator,” she added.

Furthermore, business innovations in the field of batik also emerged, such as Tizania Batik which innovated with frail background batik or By&G which created batik combination woven agel bags. In addition, there are many other handicraft and batik businesses that also grow through the established Innovating Jogja network. BBKB Yogyakarta hopes that in 2019 there will be a business innovation idea that is not inferior to before. (LM)
