17 July 2019 14:07

JAKARTA - PT Railroad Industry (INKA) is currently building the largest railway factory in ASEAN in Banyuwangi, East Java. The 83.94 hectare factory absorbs investment funds of around Rp 483 billion in the first phase.

The construction of the factory in Banyuwangi was done because the company's production facilities in Madiun are already full. In fact, INKA recently received an order for cars and locomotives from Laos.

"We have also offered to the Philippines and Madagascar. So we offer it to many countries too," said Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Rini M. Soemarno, quoted from Bisnis.

In the first stage, Rini said that the funds disbursed were worth Rp 483 billion. Construction work will be carried out by PT Adhi Karya (Persero) Tbk. The second factory will make export-oriented locomotives and carriages. Currently the first phase of construction has reached 20%. (LM)
