Bank Mandiri scores Rp 13.5 trillion net profit in first half

JAKARTA - PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk (BMRI) posted a net profit of Rp 13.5 trillion during the first semester of 2019, growing by 11.1% from the net profit in the same period in the previous year.

Hery Gunardi, Director of Business and Network of BMRI, said that the net profit in the first half of this year was supported by an increase in interest income of 14.85% on an annual basis (yoy), to Rp 44.5 trillion. The average bank only credit also managed to grow 12.1% yoy to Rp 690.5 trillion. In addition, the cost of Allowance for Impairment Losses (CKPN) also decreased by 21.28% yoy. Gunardi said he was optimistic that the company's performance growth would move positively until next year.

"We are sure to see economic indicators that are quite positive until 2020, Bank Mandiri will make improvements," Gunardi told idnfinancials.com onWednesday (17/7).

In addition, Gunardi also said that BMRI has improved credit quality. He said the company's non-performing loan (NPL) ratio was at 2.59% during the first semester of 2019. "Gross NPLs fell by 54 bps (basis points) compared to the same period last year," concluded Gunardi. (KR/LM)
