YOGYAKARTA - The Ministry of PUPR is completing the construction of the Kentungan underpass at the intersection of Jalan Kaliurang-Ringroad Utara, Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta Province along 900 meters. The underpass construction aims to unravel the traffic congestion due to traffic congestion from the four directions between Jalan Kaliurang and Jalan Padjajaran. Besides that, the presence of Kentungan Underpass facilitates access to the Kaliurang tourist area.
Head of the National Center for Implementing National Roads (BBPJN) VII, Akhmad Cahyadi, said that traffic during rush hour at the location has become increasingly congested. To cover a distance of 3 km, it takes about 40 minutes and often the queue reaches 400-600 meters. The completion of the Kentungan underpass is expected to cut around 20 minutes.
"Currently, the work progress has reached 59%. We are optimistic that this underpass can be completed in December 2019," said Akhmad Cahyadi while accompanying the work visit of the House of Representatives Commission V some time ago.
The underpass consists of 2 lanes with a length of 900 meters consisting of 224 meters of tunnel construction (closed slab), then east and west road along 386 meters and 288 meters respectively. The cost of the underpass construction uses funds from the State Budget through the multi-year contract of the 2018-2019 budget year contract amounting to Rp 101.6 billion. (LM)
