Sri Mulyani rejects proposed allowance raise for BPJS officials

JAKARTA - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati has rejected numerous proposals related to benefit components for members of the Social Security Administration Agency (BPJS) boards of directors and supervisors.

The proposals were presented in the form of a suggestion letter from BPJS Ketenagakerjaan (Social Security Administration Agency for Employment), which recommended that the Ministry of Finance make changes and increases in a number of matters contained in the Finance Ministerial Decree No. 34/2015.

“The government has rejected most of the proposals suggested… The government assesses that only one component request can be approved in accordance with existing regulations,” Head of the Ministry of Finance’s Communication and Information Service Bureau Nufransa Wira Sakti wrote in an official statement, Tuesday (13/8).

Mr Sakti explained that the proposals included increased holiday allowance, annual leave allowance, prolonged leave allowance, housing allowances, communication allowance, health facilities, and sporting facilities. Only the proposal for an increased annual leave allowance for BPJS Kesehatan’s and BPJS Ketenagakerjaan’s boards of directors and supervisors was approved.

To date, the BPJS boards of directors and supervisors only received holiday allowance without the 13th salary. Increased annual leave allowance, said Mr Sakti, aims to provide equal rights to BPJS employees and civil servants.

“This annual leave allowance is a substitution to the 13th salary,” concluded Mr Sakti. (MS)
