KKP targets the growth of fisheries GDP to reach 7.9%

JAKARTA. The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) targets the growth of fisheries Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to reach 7.9% in 2020, following the 2020 budget ceiling which was decided at Rp 6.47 trillion.

Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Susi Pudjiastuti, said that the target would be supported by the growth of fishery production which reached 26.43 million tons. Meanwhile, national salt production is targeted to reach 3 million tons.

To support all of these targets, KKP will boost the operations of KKP's Integrated Marine and Fisheries Centers (SKPT) in several potential areas such as Natuna, Saumlaki, Merauke, Sebatik, Rote Ndao, Sumba Timur, Sabang, Biak, Mimika, Morotai, Talaud, Mentawai, and Moa.

KKP is also targeting an increase in Fishermen Exchange Rate to 115, fish consumption level of 56.39 kg/capita, export value of fishery products of US$ 5.98 billion, and water conservation areas of 22.27 million ha.

"To make it happen, KKP has received a budget ceiling of Rp 6.47 trillion for 2020," said Minister Susi as quoted from a press statement on Tuesday (10/09/2019). (AM/AR)
