JAKARTA. Jobi Triananda Hasjim, President Director of PT Semen Baturaja Tbk (SMBR), is optimistic that his party will be able to achieve its cement sales target for this year, following the increasing demand for cement from Southern Sumatera region (Sumbagsel).
In August 2019, demand for cement in the Sumbagsel region grew by 9.4% compared to the previous month, according to an official statement quoted by Kontan.co.id on Wednesday (11/9).
This condition will improve the performance of Semen Baturaja (SMBR) whose marketing base is in Sumbagsel. The company recorded a sales volume of 222,097 tons in August 2019, 10.5% higher than the record on July 2019.
"The significant growth of cement sales volume in August 2019 shows that the demand for cement in the third quarter of 2019 began to improve," Jobi said.
SMBR recorded sales volume growth of 16% in August 2019, compared to the record from the same period in the previous year. As a result, SMBR's market share in the Sumbagsel region rose from 65% in July 2019 to 70%.
Sales volume also managed to increase the company's revenue in August 2019 by 10% to Rp 209.4 billion from Rp 189.9 billion recorded in July 2019. (AM/AR)
