Iran declares its readiness for a war following US allegations

20 September 2019 15:38

JAKARTA. Iran Foreign Minister Javad Zarif, said that Iran would not ignore the allegations from the United States (US) who believe that Iran was behind the Houthi attack on Saudi Aramco's oil production facilities.

The attack reduced oil production in Saudi Arabia by around 5.7 million barrels per day, or equivalent to 5% of total world oil production. Although the Houthis have claimed the responsibility for the attack, the US Government continues to try to persuade Saudi Arabia to believe that the Houthi action was sponsored by the Iranian government.

"We don't want war, we also don't want to be involved in military confrontations," Zarif was quoted as saying by Al Jazeera. "But we will not close our eyes in protecting our territory," he explained.

Zarif added, the US and Saudi Arabia now want to blame Iran, to get something from Iran and Yemen. "This is a war agitation because it is based on lies and deception," Zarif said. (KR/AR)
