Ministry of Industry encourages young creative entrepreneurs to be export oriented

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) is committed to continue to spur the growth of young entrepreneurs in the creative industry sector in the country. One of the efforts undertaken is the implementation of creative business incubator activities targeting young people under the age of 28 with a focus on the craft and fashion industry sector.

"These efforts are also part of the government's target to further encourage increased exports, so that the creative industry sector is able to make a positive contribution to the national economy and bring a dual effect on creative economic growth," said Director General (Dirjen) of Small, Medium and Various Industries (IKMA) Ministry of Industry, Gati Wibawaningsih in Jakarta, Friday (9/20).

In order to increase the number of young entrepreneurs in the creative industry, the Directorate General (DG) of the Ministry of Industry and Trade conducted the Creative Business Incubator - Bali Creative Industry Center (CBI - BCIC) Batch I Year 2019 which was opened at the Prasetya Mulya University Campus, Jakarta, on Tuesday (17/9).

The Director General of IKMA added, the 2016 Creative Economy Special Survey (SKEK) conducted by the Creative Economy Agency (Bekraf) and the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) showed that the largest contribution of creative economy exports came from the fashion sub-sector by 56.27%, then followed by craft sub-sector accounted for 37.52% of Indonesia's total creative economy exports.

Referring to the data, Gati targets the Creative Business Incubator-Bali Creative Industry Center (CBI-BCIC) Batch I of 2019 to be able to continue to boost the contribution of creative sector exports to national exports. (LM)
