JAKARTA - Former NASA engineer George Do has been appointed as Gojek’s Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), who will be in charge of the startup’s cybersecurity initiative.

According to DealStreet Asia, Mr Do’s role at Gojek was effective since September this year. He will report to Gojek Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Ajey Gore, who is based in Singapore.

“I look forward to working with my new colleagues to transform, scale and future-proof Gojek’s global information security programme,” said Mr Do in an official statement, Tuesday (8/10).

“Key to that is building and maintaining security trust with all of our stakeholders, and managing our cyber-security risks within acceptable tolerance levels.”

Previously, Mr Do served as a CISO at a Nasdaq-listed real estate investment trust for over a decade. Aside from his stint at NASA, where he was involved in security incident investigations and US government information asset protection, he also has worked for a number of tech companies including CenturyLink, Exodus, Savvis, and Tivo.

In addition to his current role at Gojek, Mr Do is also an advisor to California-based VC firm YL Ventures and serves on customer advisory boards at several cybersecurity firms such as Palo Alto Networks. (MS)
