JAKARTA - Workforce startup Sampingan has pocketed US$ 1.5 million in a pre-Series A funding round led by Golden Gate Ventures. Other investors participating in the round include Singapore-based VC firm Antler and a number of angel investors.

In an official statement, Sampingan said the fresh funds will be used to expand its operations. The startup, founded by Wisnu Nugrahadi, offers a platform that provides Indonesians with jobs across the country.

“Sampingan offers a really intriguing value proposition: the ability to launch large-scale, labour-intensive campaigns economically, quickly, and effectively across Indonesia—thanks to the emergence of digital-savvy Indonesians,” said Golden Gate Ventures partner Justin Hall as quoted by DealStreet Asia, Wednesday (9/10).

Sampingan was established out of Antler’s startup generator programme and seeks to provide Indonesians with equal access to jobs. In addition, it also aims to enable agents to become resellers for SMEs. (MS)
