JAKARTA - Vice President-elect Ma’ruf Amin has officially resigned from his posts as Chairman of Sharia Supervisory Boards (SSBs) in BNI Syariah and Bank Muamalat.

The resignation was announced ahead of Mr Amin’s inauguration as Vice President for 2019-2024 alongside President Joko Widodo on October 20, 2019.

According to BNI Syariah Corporate Secretary Rima Dwi Permatasari, Mr Amin submitted his resignation as Chairman of BNI Syariah SSB in July this year. He will be succeeded by Hasanudin, who is currently a member of the company’s SSB.

“The company has accepted Mr Ma’ruf Amin’s resignation as SSB Chairman and appointed Mr Hasanudin as his successor,” Ms Permatasari told Bisnis Indonesia, Tuesday (15/10).

Meanwhile, Bank Muamalat CEO Achmad Kusna Permana took to social media to convey his appreciation for Mr Ma’ruf’s service in his 17 years in the Bank Muamalat SSB.

“Had it not been for his duty and mandate to the nation, it would have been very difficult for us to let Mr Ma’ruf go,” Mr Permana wrote on Instagram, Monday (14/10). “We pray that Allah will always provide His guidance for Mr Ma’ruf in his mandate as Vice President.” (MS)
