JAKARTA. PT Bentoel Internasional Investama Tbk (RMBA) finally managed to record net profit in 2019, after suffering consecutive losses since 2012. As of Q3 2019, the company managed to record a net profit of Rp 11 billion.
Hendro Martowardojo, Independent Commissioner of RMBA, said that the company could make a profit after selling a number of its assets, as well as improving efficiency in the product distribution line. "Our efficiency is improved significantly. We sold our unnecessary assets and empty factories, "Martowardojo said as quoted by Kontan on Wednesday (23/10) today.
As of today, RMBA has exported 6.7 billion cigarettes, with a total value of Rp 1.1 trillion, to 19 countries, including Malaysia, Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Cambodia, Japan, to Korea.
As one of the largest cigarette producers in Indonesia, RMBA is targeting export growth of 10% to 15% this year. (KR/AR)
