JAKARTA - Health Minister Terawan held a meeting with the Social Security Administration Agency for Health (BPJS Kesehatan) this morning (25/10). The meeting was held as a response to President Joko Widodo’s message to Dr Terawan about the agency’s deficit prior to the latter’s appointment as a cabinet minister.
According to BPJS Kesehatan CEO Fachmi Idris, Mr Widodo’s assignment to Dr Terawan includes resolving the prevalence of stunted growth in the country, the National Health Insurance (JKN) scheme managed by BPJS Kesehatan, high prices of medicine, and low domestic health equipment production.
“We really appreciate the Minister’s hands-on approach,” Mr Idris told the press as quoted by Bisnis.com.
Prior to being appointed as Health Minister, Dr Terawan, along with several other figures, was invited for a meeting with Mr Widodo at the State Palace. At the meeting on Tuesday (22/10), the former Army Central Hospital Head said that Mr Widodo’s primary message included, among others, the prevalence of stunted growth and BPJS Kesehatan’s deficit.
