31 October 2019 14:05

JAKARTA. Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati has estimated this year's additional bailout funds for the Social Security Administration for Health's (BPJS Kesehatan) premium assistance participants at Rp 14 trillion. The estimate was calculated with consideration to funding assistance costs for regional governments.

The additional bailout funds are in line with the government's decision to raise the rates of BPJS Kesehatan in accordance with Presidential Decree No. 75/2019.

According to Ms Indrawati, the government will immediately pay the additional bailout funds both centrally and regionally. Meanwhile, the allocation for the National Health Insurance (JKN) premium assistance participants already paid by the government amounted to Rp 26.7 trillion in the 2019 State Budget.

The bailout funds are directed towards JKN participants registered from August to December 2019. The assistance will be regulated in more details through a Finance Ministerial Decree.

In the latest Finance Ministerial Decree concerning JKN, the premium is raised from Rp 23,000 to Rp 42,000 per person per month starting from August 2019. (AM/MS)
