JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has addressed former badminton player Taufik Hidayat’s possible involvement in the bribery case that implicates former Youth and Sports Minister Imam Nahrawi.

According to KPK, Mr Nahrawi received Rp 1 billion in bribes from the Golden Indonesia Task Force (Satlak Prima), which was collected by his personal assistant Miftahul Ulum at Mr Hidayat’s home.

“In late 2017, around Rp 1 billion from Satlak Prima was collected by Mr Miftahul Ulum at the home of Mr Taufik Hidayat,” said Natalia Kristanto from KPK’s Legal Bureau in her response to Mr Nahrawi’s pretrial motions at the South Jakarta District Court as quoted by Detik.com, Tuesday (5/11).

In addition, KPK also alleges that in 2017 Mr Hidayat personally paid Mr Nahrawi Rp 800 million, which was used to finance the legal costs of Mr Nahrawi’s brother Syamsul Arifin, who was then implicated in a criminal case.

“On January 12, 2017, Rp 800 billion was received [by Mr Nahrawi] through Mr Taufik Hidayat for the handling of a criminal case that implicated Mr Nahrawi’s brother Mr Syamsul Arifin, which was carried out by a law enforcement agency,” Ms Kristanto added. (MS)
