The fate of nickel SPE holders will be decided with BKPM today

12 November 2019 08:46

JAKARTA. The Indonesian Nickel Mining Association (APNI) asks the Indonesian government to provide certainty to a number of companies that have obtained Export Approval (SPE).

Meidy Katrin Lengkey, Secretary-General of APNI, said that currently there are 9 companies that have obtained export recommendations, according to the official memorandum given by the Directorate General of Customs and Excise on 8 November. On the other hand, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) is also conducting verification of 11 companies holding nickel SPE.

But, Lengkey admitted there were actually more than 11 companies already holding SPE. "Where do the rest of them go? The decision will be made tomorrow at a meeting between the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) and APNI, "Lengkey said as quoted by Kontan on Monday (11/11) yesterday.

In addition, Lengkey asserted that her party did not reject the ban on nickel exports. "We ask for legal certainty," she said. (KR/AR)
