Bank Maybank Indonesia NPL increases

12 November 2019 15:11

JAKARTA. The decline of debtors' ability to pay on public business loans has caused PT Bank Maybank Indonesia Tbk's (BNII) non-performing loans (NPLs) to increase to 3.3% in August 2019.

According to Maybank Indonesia President Director Taswin Zakaria, the ratio surfaced due to the lower performance of several debtors. "Our NPL position in August reached 3.3% due to the lower performance of several debtors in the trade sector," Mr Zakaria told Bisnis Indonesia, Monday (11/11).

Mr Zakaria's statement contradicted data from the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, which estimated Maybank Indonesia's public business NPLs at 4.43% in August.

Maybank Indonesia's public business loan quality, Mr Zakaria added, has continued to improve. As of October 2019, NPLs from this type of financing dropped 1.6%, having reached 2.2% at the end of the third quarter of 2019.

In 2019 Maybank Indonesia received a public business loan disbursement ceiling of Rp 66.12 billion. As of August, the bank's public business loan disbursement reached Rp 12.27 billion. (AM/MS)
