JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that Indonesia's import transactions in October 2019 reached US$ 14.77 billion, up 3.57% from US$ 14.23 billion in September. However, the value dropped 16.39% year on year (yoy) from US$ 17.66 billion in October 2018.

According to BPS's press release, the October import increase was driven by oil and gas imports which surged from US$ 1.59 billion to US$ 1.76 billion, although it dropped from US$ 2.91 billion in October 2018, while non-oil and gas imports in the period hiked 2.73% to US$ 13.02 billion, lower than US$ 14.75 billion in October 2018.

The non-oil and gas import increase came from electrical equipment with US$ 122.8 million, while the decline came from mechanical aircraft engines with US$ 109.9 billion. The largest importers for non-oil and gas products from January to October 2019 were from China, Japan, and Thailand. (LK/MS)
