CORE: Indonesia's economy may only grow by 4.9% in 2020

JAKARTA. Executive Director of CORE Indonesia, Mohammad Faisal predicts domestic economic growth in 2020 will be at the range of 4.9% -5.1%, lower than government's projection of around 5.02%.

This was revealed by Faisal in a seminar at the Ashley Hotel, Jakarta on Wednesday (20/11). According to him, the slowing domestic economy is inseparable from global conditions, which are affected by the trade war. 

Weakening of consumption also began to be seen in the third quarter of this year, in which consumption only grew by 0.01% to 5.01% for household consumption. Meanwhile, investment also slowing. In the third quarter, investment only grew by 4.74%, the lowest since 2016.

Likewise, exports and imports are predicted to be sluggish, although the price of palm and coal commodities is expected to rise next year. (AM/AR)
