JAKARTA. PT Bank CIMB Niaga Tbk (BNGA) will try to increase its fee-based income (FBI) through syndicated lending.

Frans Rahardja Alimhamzah, Director of BNGA, explained that the purpose of syndication is not only to share risk with other members of the syndicate, but also to increase non-interest income. "So we want to push our fee-based income through syndication," he said in Jakarta recently.

Based on the Bloomberg League Table Reports Global Syndicated Loans, CIMB Niaga has become a mandated lead arranger in 17 syndicated projects from the beginning of the year to mid-November 2019. The company's portion in the syndicated loans reached US$ 1.25 billion or around Rp 17.4 trillion.

According to Frans, CIMB Niaga currently still has many syndicated pipelines, mainly from infrastructure projects. (AM/AR)
